Two Winters

This rug measures 3 feet by 4 feet. I designed this piece to use up left over wool strips. I intend to use this as a rug in my home when finished. It is titled 'Two Winters' because that is how long it has taken to hook it!

Ida Red is almost done...

My hooked wool version of Ida Red is just about complete.

I have been exploring the world of ball jointed dolls. Dolls, wigs, and clothing have been bought and sold. I have been learning to do 'face-ups', an artform all its own. And I doggedly attempt sewing doll clothes as it doesn't come easily for me. Plus I have spent time just learning about these resin dolls as there are a variety on the market.

Lemon arrived!

The BOX arrived.

Here is the box inside the BOX.

And here is the doll inside the box inside the BOX.

She is a Lati Yellow Byurl named Lemon.

Lemon: "This doesn't look like Korea. Where am I?"

Me: "Well... you are in the United States of America.....in the great state of Texas.....on the rolling plains near the Texas panhandle.....in a tiny town called Turkey, Texas."

Lemon: "OMG! I am doomed!"

Lemon: "Tarantulas, scorpions, rattlesnakes.....TORNADOES!"

Me: "You are safe, Lemon. You will be living in my art studio.

I have a little present for you."

Lemon: " I think I like you."

Turkey, Texas

Where is Turkey, Texas?
I often hear that question.
Turkey is on the rolling plains of Texas, far enough west to be considered West Texas and far enough north to be part of the Texas Panhandle. It is 45 miles from Childress, Texas.
Turkey has a population of about 500 people.

Heart of Hearts

I was inspired by Mary Stanley's hearts to try one of my own. The border was created using my new proddy tool. This piece measures about 15" X 16".

'Down Between the Rivers' in progress

I have begun work on a series about my father and his music. This first piece will be titled 'Down Between the Rivers'. It depicts in a childlike manner where my father grew up. There are five fish in the river on the top and five fish in the river on the bottom, one fish for each child in the family. I have the cotton rows and the fish left to hook. I haven't measured it yet but it is over 2 feet by 3 feet.
